After months of preparation our Come and Play Day has been and gone.

We were joined on the day by over 20 guest players - some were people who've played with Wow in the past, some were people who had attended the previous Play Day and enjoyed it so much they wanted to repeat the experience, and some people were completely new faces to us. (Although it was amazing to see that almost everyone who came seemed to know someone else who was there!)

We rehearsed five pieces - The King and I, Rule the World, Don't Stop me Now, Molesworth's Melody and Nights in White Satin - before and after lunch and then we had some refreshments with family and friends before entertaining them by performing all 5 pieces!

All in all it was a wonderful day - one which I'm sure we will want to repeat in the future - and we are delighted that some people who attended have decided that they would like to join us on a permanent basis!

Please have a look at our Gallery for photos of the day and there are many more on our Facebook page.

Preparations are almost complete for our second Come and Play Day.

We are expecting to be a band of around fifty on the day, which is really amazing!

If you would like to attend please get in touch as soon as possible.

Following the success of our Silver Jubilee Play Day back in 2015, we have decided the time is right to repeat the event.

The event is open to people who play regularly and people who haven't played for a while. All abilities are welcome.

Please see the attached flyer for details of how to book your place.

It's been a busy year for Wow. We've played at Pontefract Castle (twice), Springhead Park, Pudsey Park, Pennine Community, Ossett Community Centre, Cluntergate Centre, Sainsbury's and Westgate Station. We've thoroughly enjoyed entertaining many people at these events.

We've collaborated with Huddersfield and Ripponden Brass Band and Wakefield Big Band to put on two very different events - a relaxed cafe style evening concert and a Family Fun Afternoon. It's been great to work with, and develop relationships with, other groups of musicians.

We'd really love to increase our membership this year. If you like what you've seen on our Facebook page or website and would like to join us please do get in touch. We're a friendly bunch and are always keen to welcome new players.

We have some exciting plans for 2018 - keep an eye on our page for further details.

We've enjoyed collaborating with Huddersfield & Ripponden Brass Band and Wakefield Big Band at our recent events "Strike Up the Band" and "Family Fun Afternoon".

The first event was a traditional concert. The audience were seated in a relaxed cafe style setting and were able to enjoy drinks and snacks whilst they were entertained first by Huddersfield & Ripponden Brass Band and then by us.

The Family Fun Afternoon was also a relaxed event and certainly lived up to its name of Family Fun. We had crafts and face painting for the children and they were also invited to have a go on some instruments which they seemd to enjoy! They got the chance to play their "solos" with Wakefield Big Band. We also had a cake stall, refreshments and a raffle.

We look forward to working with these musicians at some time in the future!
