Strange times we are living in at the moment!

Tonight was to be our conductor’s last rehearsal with us. Lee has been with us since 2012 and in his time as leader through his hard work, dedication, encouragement and skill he has brought the band to a new level and is leaving us in a strong position.

With rehearsals on hold for the moment we’d like to raise a virtual glass to you, Lee, and say a very big THANK YOU for all you’ve done for WOW over the last 8 years! We wish you well in all your future ventures.

Card and gifts to follow!

In light of the government's updated advice that non-essential travel and non-essential social contact should be avoided it is with deep regret that we have taken the difficult decision to suspend rehearsals for the time being in order to prioritise the safety and well-being of our members.

We will of course be keeping an eye on the situation and will commence rehearsals again as soon as it is safe to do so.

In the meantime we send our very best wishes to our members, their families and all our supporters!

On Saturday we were delighted to be joined by friends old and new to celebrate our 30th anniversary!

We were really pleased that the band's founder, Catherine Clarke, was able to join us for part of the day!

Our time was spent rehearsing 6 pieces of music which we then performed to family and friends at the end of the day. We began with Venus followed by Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana, Porgy and Bess, Love Theme from The Godfather, and the march from A Moorside Suite before finishing by taking things back to where we started with Eighties Flashback!

A wonderful time was had by all!

We'd like to say a big "Thank You" to everyone who helped to make the day such a success and to those who were unable to come due to illness we'd like to say "Get Well Soon"!

Here's to the next 30 years!

Below is a photograph from the day, but there are many more on Facebook if you would like to have a look.

We are very much looking forward to celebrating 30 years of WOW and are marking this occasion by holding a Come and Play Day where we invite fellow musicians to join us for a day of music-making.

Please do get in touch if you would like to be part of this event.

For anyone who plays in a wind or brass band this is a busy time of year!

The last two weekends have seen teams from the band carolling at Colton Methodist Church and Wakefield Westgate Railway Station.

This Saturday we will have a team playing at Sainsbury's - Trinity Walk.

If you're shopping in Sainsbury's please don't be afraid to ask for your favourite carol. We will be happy to play it for you!
